I recently bought the Clean and Pure water filter from Dr. Mercola’s website. I am concerned about the quality of our drinking water because it is intentionally contaminated with fluoride and chlorine without mentioning other unintentional pollutants. I recently decided that the time had come to invest in my drinking water after my previous investment in my washing water. I bought the filter from Dr. Mercola’s website and installed it without too much difficulty. The aerator on my kitchen sink had rusted in place, so I had to install it in my bathroom instead which is not much of an inconvenience.
The installation of the filter is straight forward. You just unscrew the aerator from your faucet and screw the attachment for the filter in its place. Next, you set the filter system on your sink. All of this is very simple. The kit comes with a couple of converters so that you can be sure it will match up to your particular faucet.
The filter system actually has two filters in it. The first part of the filter contains is a copper-zinc filter and the second is a carbon filter. The copper-zinc filter converts chlorine in the water to chloride, so that it is not harmful and passes through the carbon filter increasing the life of the carbon filter. It also creates a bacteriostatic environment which makes water taste and smell better and keeps bacteria from growing in the filters. The carbon filter removes chlorine and floride from the system.
The first day or two after I installed the filter the water running through the filter would be cloudy for one to five seconds and then clear up. After the initial installation period the water has clear from the moment it exits the filter.
The water does taste better. I noticed a slight improvement in taste, but I really noticed the change when I tried drinking some of my regular tapwater a couple of days later.
